Labour & Delivery
|
Sunday November 9th I was falling asleep when the first contractions started just just before 11pm. I waited to see if this was just another trick (I had been having pretty strong practice contractions for the weeks prior) but another one came and then again. Mind you they were 20 minutes apart but things were happening! I lasted until about 2 until waking up Stuart up just out of excitement. We spent the rest of the night just waiting around and trying to prepare for what lay ahead. Emma was brought to daycare, thinking that surely by the time she had to be picked up the baby would be here. The contractions stayed pretty spaced apart and then at 8:30, they stopped. I had one an hour later and then nothing until 2pm when they started up again slowly. By 5pm Emma was picked up by our good friend Kelly who was going to have Emma over for the night. We arrived at the birthing center at 5:45pm November 10th. Things were really happening now. The contractions were getting stronger and closer but this lasted for a while. Stuart was an awesome support rubbing my back and getting me drinks, I couldn't have done it without him. My mom and sister Rachel stopped by and were there for the birth. At 10:21, after only 3 pushes, Andrew William was born weighing in at 7 pounds even. The first thing he did was pee all over me, but it was wonderful. |
